Roll for Character

Whether you are an actor looking to spruce up your character development process or a player  of Table Top Role Play Games (TTRPGs) this is the course for you.  If you’ve never tried acting before but are feeling curious about whether it’s for you, this could be the perfect segway from the D&D game to the stage or screen!

This course consists of one 3hr session per week for 4 weeks. Each week you will Roll the dice to determine your characters backstory, race or ‘class’, movement style and vocal quality.  The dice gods will assure a fully randomised experience allowing working actors to stretch beyond their usual casting types and absolute beginners the safety of stress free choices.

In this course you will develop skills in Improv, Movement & Voice Work.  Discover how to create character with confidence even when all you have are three words to go on.

In Collaboration with Scriptorium Emporium (SE)

Fran is a founding member of SE and a Glasgow-based actor, voice actor, theatre practitioner, and GM. While completing her Master’s degree in Music and English at the University of Bremen, Germany, she coached her university’s theatre group and mentored individual members one to one. In addition to acting, she devised and lead workshops in voice work, character work, Shakespearean English, and script/text work. During that time, she co-founded and headed an Elizabethan theatre company in Bremen, before moving to Glasgow for further professional training in various methods including Practical Aesthetics.

She has been a GM for various TTRPG systems (particularly D&D) since 2019, running up to five games a week during the pandemic, including a live-streamed fundraiser for charity involving players on four continents. Her proudest achievement is a homebrew campaign that has been running since spring 2020 and is still going strong in spite of scheduling players in three different time zones.

Her games lean heavily into the collaborative aspects of storytelling, bad pop culture references, dad jokes, puns, and at least one vaguely menacing goat per campaign.

PLEASE NOTE - Booking through our website incurs an additional fee of £10 (included in the price listed - £90) due to bank and website charges. If you would like to save £10 click here and scroll to the bottom of the page. Thank you!
