Study acting for camera techniques and set etiquette in a classroom environment over 8 weeks. The camera will be in the room every session, it’s not about ego, it’s about being able to see in real time what works in the Frame and understanding WHY. You will leave the course with
A clear understanding of how to develop character within the frame.
A no nonsense approach to prepare for every role on camera.
Rock Solid confidence in that approach, through a step by step guide allowing for consistent practice beyond the course itself.
A knowledge of the vocabulary and slang that you will hear on set.
Confidence in watching yourself back, and tools for quieting the ego.
Clips of your work - you are encouraged to bring an SD card to class to keep all your files. You will be given guidance on which clips to keep privately for your own learning, and which you should consider sharing on Spotlight or with CD’s and Agents.
A Good Understanding of your Casting Type and how to identify your Brand going forward.
This course also explores ideas and techniques put forward by the likes of Patrick Tucker, Mel Brooks, John Swanbeck and Michael Keogh as interpreted by Kat Harrison as both an Actor and Director. Please note we are not teaching their techniques and are not therefore officially endorsed by these practitioners. We are big believers in attributing credit where it is due and if you would like to learn more about any of the approaches referenced in class we will provide links to their written or published works for your further exploration, if interested.
When it comes to acting, be like Bruce Lee, try everything, learn from as many sources as you can and build your own technique. What you will learn from this course is Kat’s approach created over years of doing just that.
